Makers Workshops: The Materials Series
Ceramic Tile Making Workshop with Starglazers
Sunday 13th March 2022
10:00am – 12:30pm
Hall for Cornwall
£20 (includes a hot beverage)
Join Christine from Starglazers pottery studio in Falmouth for a morning of making decorative ceramic tiles using air-drying clay. For Starglazers’ first pop-up event you’ll be invited to have fun with textures and patterns, using a tour of the building to feed into organic patterns for your tile. You’ll leave with a hand-made clay tile, painted and ready to take home.
Our Makers Workshops are a celebration of our heritage building during our theatre’s opening season. Inviting makers working in Cornwall, we are offering the opportunity to join six different creative workshops. With a different workshop held each month, Hall for Cornwall offers the opportunity to visit our new space and leave with a new piece of work you’ve created yourself.
Exploring the materials present in our Grade II listed theatre and the many uses our building has had, we have programmed workshops that explore everything from the terrazzo flooring to the granite columns and oak panels in the auditorium.
Other makers running workshops at Hall for Cornwall include Badger & Birch, Wild Rose Cornwall, Sarah Drew, City of Lights, and Wild Sea Calligraphy. Read more about Starglazers.
Makers Workshops series has been made possible thanks to a generous award from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
All materials provided and no prior experience is necessary. Workshops are hosted in a friendly, inclusive, and accessible location within Hall for Cornwall.
Please note that your tile will not need to be fired in a kiln and that you’ll be able to take the work home with you.
