Helston Flora Day 2026
Description
Helston Flora Day is a traditional Cornish festival taking place on 8th May in the town of Helston. The festival is full of dancing, flowers, and music and is one of the most eagerly anticipated spring events in Cornwall. Hundreds of couples dressed in their best clothes dance through the streets, there are re-enactments of St George slaying the dragon, and the town is adorned with flowers.
The festival has a rich history and is a celebration of chasing out winter and welcoming spring. The Helston Town Band adds upbeat live music and the famous dance begins at midday. The festival includes early morning dances, a dance at 5pm, a grand procession, stalls, and a fairground.
Helston Flora Day is free to attend and is suitable for anyone who wants to experience traditional Cornish festivities.
Note: Helston Flora Day is celebrated annually on 8th May in Helston, Cornwall, unless 8th May falls on a Sunday or Monday, in which case the event is held on the preceding Saturday.
