St. Anthony’s Lighthouse

St Anthony Lighthouse, Gerrans, Truro, UK

Description

St. Anthony’s Lighthouse is a striking coastal beacon located at the entrance to the Carrick Roads near Falmouth, Cornwall. Built in 1835 by Trinity House, it stands on the eastern side of the Fal Estuary, warning vessels of the rocky shoreline and guiding them safely into Falmouth Harbour. The white-painted cylindrical tower with its distinctive black horizontal band rises from the cliffs of St. Anthony Head, offering dramatic sea views and historic charm. Fully automated since 1987, the lighthouse emits a white flash every 15 seconds and is still operational today. Popular with walkers and maritime history enthusiasts, St. Anthony’s Lighthouse also gained fame as the exterior location for the children’s TV series Fraggle Rock, making it a much-loved Cornish landmark.
