Wolf Rock Lighthouse

Wolf Rock Lighthouse, United Kingdom

Description

Wolf Rock Lighthouse is a remote and dramatic beacon located on a treacherous reef in the Atlantic Ocean, about 8 miles southwest of Land’s End, Cornwall. Built between 1861 and 1869 by James Walker for Trinity House, this 41-meter granite tower was a marvel of Victorian engineering, constructed under harsh sea conditions on a rock often submerged by pounding waves. The lighthouse emits two white flashes every 15 seconds and remains a vital aid to navigation in one of the most hazardous stretches of British coastline. Automated in 1988 and now powered by solar energy, Wolf Rock Lighthouse is still operational and remotely monitored, standing as a powerful symbol of resilience and human ingenuity amidst the wild beauty and peril of the open sea.
