Helston Flora Day 2023

May 5

Helston Flora Day 2023 is a traditional Cornish festival taking place on Friday 5 May in the town of Helston. The festival is full of dancing, flowers, and music, and is one of the most eagerly anticipated spring events in Cornwall. Hundreds of couples dressed in their best clothes dance through the streets, there are re-enactments of St George slaying the dragon, and the town is adorned with flowers. The festival has a rich history and is a celebration of chasing out winter and welcoming spring. The Helston Town Band adds upbeat live music and the famous dance begins at midday. The festival includes early morning dances, a dance at 5pm, a grand procession, stalls, and a fairground. Helston Flora Day is free to attend and is suitable for anyone who wants to experience traditional Cornish festivities.
