Cornwall Holidays Guide to Your Winter Break

Cornwall is known for it’s summer sun and days at the beach, however there is so much more to our beautiful county. The winter provides some incredible scenery for a quiet relaxing break. Take long walks across the empty beaches taking in the dramatic views and being mesmerised by the sound of the ocean. Enjoy Cornish cuisine by open fire places in cosy pubs and take in the incredible sights and days out that Cornwall has to offer minus the crowds.

So one of the first things to talk about would be the vast amount of amazing Cornish beaches that you can explore. The beaches are often packed during the warmer months so you can have the chance of having the beach sometimes all to yourselves. Wrap up warm as it can be windy and exposed but this just makes it more exhilarating. There are plenty of dog-friendly beaches in Cornwall and the lack of people on the beaches means it is a perfect place to let the dog off the lead for a proper run-around. Don’t forget to put a towel in the car to dry off the inevitable wet dog after their adventure on the beach. We have a guide to Cornwall’s best dog-friendly beaches for you to check out too. Wellies are also a great idea when you are walking so come prepared. You really can spend days and weeks exploring Cornwall’s best beaches. We have created a list of Cornwall’s best beaches for you to check out though as a starting place. If you want to try your hand at some water sports things like kayaking and stand-up boarding will give you a great experience on the water without spending too much time in the cold water.

Cornwall has some incredible places to eat. Some of the views when you are eating are just stunning and you can enjoy either lunch or just a hot chocolate sitting on the beach or close to it. There are plenty of traditional English pubs serving carvery’s or lighter lunches next to open fireplaces. There are also some amazing places to get fresh Cornish cuisine. If you have your dog then we have made a guide to the best places to eat that are dog-friendly, so be sure to have a look before you come. Cornwall is famous for it’s fresh food and there are some world-class restaurants including some boasting Michelin stars in the county. See our guide to fine dining to check out the full list. Of course, there is always the option to treat yourself to a warm Cornish pasty or some fresh fish and chips too.

There are also some fantastic things to see and do open all year round in Cornwall. The Eden Project is open all year and gears up its displays and exhibitions seasonally. The large biomes at the Eden are amazing whatever the weather, so its a great place to spend a cooler day. In the winter months they even set up an ice skating rink which is a fantastic seasonal activity, fun for everyone. The Lost Gardens of Heligan is open all year round, get lost in these impressive gardens, they also accept dogs. Land’s End is another great place to visit, there are some amazing coastline walks that you can do whilst you are there.
