Truro has a busy shopping culture and you can spend all day on the high streets exploring the stores. As well as this Truro offers a lively nightlife with plenty of fantastic restaurants and bars to keep you busy all night long. Truro Town History

Historically Truro was founded in the middle ages and was built by the Normans, with only a few hundred living there then. Over the years it has become a market town and today has some great markets for you to explore both inside and on the piazza.

Truro began to grow rapidly in the 18th and 19th century running as a port and a market town and much of the town centre was built around this time.

Today the city is home to around 19,000 people but attracts a lot of visitors both on holiday and local Cornish people who come for the shops, restaurants and shows.

The cathedral dominates the skyline here and is a spectacular piece of architecture. The Cathedral was completed in 1910 and I would definitely recommend a visit if you are in town.

Shopping in Truro

Truro is definitely the hub of Cornwall when it comes to shopping and all the locals flock to Truro on the weekends and the lead up to Christmas as Truro offers not only traditional shops but fabulous markets and late night Christmas shopping and fares. It really is the hub of the county on Christmas and just looks magical. The main high street is the place to find big stores and bargains and some of the smaller side streets offer some great local shops selling bespoke clothing and jewellery. In the markets you will find everything you can imagine and some great local produce as well. You really can spend all day exploring the shops in Truro and not get bored!
