Family Days Out in Cornwall

Family Days Out in Cornwall

19 family attractions across Cornwall - from the Eden Project and Newquay Zoo to steam railways, seal sanctuaries, and adventure parks. Options for all ages and all weathers.

Cornwall has enough family attractions to fill a fortnight without repeating yourself. The 19 listed here cover wildlife, adventure, heritage, and indoor options - useful when the weather turns, which it will.

Wildlife and animals are well represented. Newquay Zoo houses over 130 species across 13 acres near Trenance Park. The National Seal Sanctuary at Gweek on the Helford River rescues and rehabilitates grey seals, with nursery pools, rehabilitation areas, and resident sea lions. JungleBarn Cornwall near Hayle is a bird and wildlife park with parrots, flamingos, and red squirrels alongside a large indoor play barn. Dogs are welcome at the Seal Sanctuary.

Adventure covers a range of ages. Camel Creek Adventure Park near Wadebridge is built for under-12s with rides, splash zones, and a dinosaur trail. Holywell Bay Fun Park has go-karts, crazy golf, and trampolines. Retallack Aqua Park near St Columb is an inflatable obstacle course on a lake - physically demanding and best for ages 6 and up.

The Eden Project near St Austell works for every age: the biomes are climate-controlled regardless of weather, and the outdoor gardens, exhibitions, and play areas extend the visit. The Lappa Valley Steam Railway near Newquay runs miniature steam engines through 35 acres of woodland with a boating lake, crazy golf, and adventure playground. Well-behaved dogs are welcome.

Blue Reef Aquarium in Newquay has a walk-through ocean tunnel and regular feeding demonstrations. The Polperro Model Village near Looe combines a working model railway with a miniature replica of the harbour village.

Most attractions listed here are open from Easter through October; a handful operate year-round. Booking in advance is recommended during school holidays.
