Mousehole Christmas Lights 2026

Mousehole Harbour Lights is one of Cornwall’s most beloved Christmas traditions. Since 1963, the tiny fishing harbour has been transformed each December by an elaborate display of illuminated figures, scenes, and decorations strung across the harbour walls and buildings, their reflections shimmering in the water below.

The display is the work of local volunteers and artist duo Trevor and Rosalind Wood, who have created the designs for decades. Thousands of coloured lights form recognisable Cornish scenes - fishing boats, sea creatures, and biblical nativity figures - all visible from the harbour wall and surrounding lanes.

The switch-on draws large crowds to this small village, and the lights remain up through the Christmas and New Year period. Combined with Tom Bawcock’s Eve on 23 December, Mousehole becomes one of the most atmospheric places in Cornwall during the festive season.

Mousehole is about 3 miles south of Penzance. The village is small and parking is extremely limited during the lights season - arriving early or using public transport from Penzance is strongly recommended.
