Geevor Tin Mine

Geevor Tin Mine is a museum and heritage site beside the village of Pendeen on the Penwith coast. The mine worked from 1911 until 1990 and is now part of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site. Geevor describes itself as the largest mining site in the country, and it is run by Pendeen Community Heritage, an independent charity.

Visitors can walk the mine buildings and the Hard Rock Museum at their own pace. Guided tours through the mill and underground run hourly between 10am and 4pm, and children can pan for gold and gems and keep what they find. The underground section is the 18th-century Wheal Mexico working, reached on the guided tour.

Geevor is open Sunday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, with last entry at 4pm. It is closed on Saturdays. In 2026 an adult ticket is £23.00 (£20.00 for surface only), a child aged 3 to 16 is £14.00 and a family ticket is £72.00. Parking is free all day, and there is a bus stop at the top of the site. The Levant Mine and Beam Engine, run by the National Trust, is a 10-minute walk along the coast path, but it is open by pre-booked tour only.
