Constantine Bay
Sandy surf beach and dunes near Padstow
Constantine Bay is a sandy beach and small settlement on the north Cornwall coast, about 3 miles west of Padstow in the parish of St Merryn. The beach faces northwest and picks up good Atlantic swell, making it popular with surfers. Dunes back the beach, and seasonal lifeguards are on duty through summer. The National Trust manages much of the surrounding coastline, including the headland walk towards Trevose Head lighthouse to the north.
Trevose Golf and Country Club occupies the land behind the dunes and operates an 18-hole championship course with views over the bay. A small car park serves the beach, with a seasonal kiosk. The settlement itself consists mainly of holiday homes and a few permanent residences - there are no shops or pubs at the beach, so visitors need to head to St Merryn (1 mile) or Padstow (3 miles) for provisions.
The beach connects to Booby’s Bay and Mother Ivey’s Bay to the north, accessible at low tide or via the coast path. Harlyn Bay is about a mile south, separated by a headland. Constantine Bay appeals to surfers, golfers, and families who want a beach-focused holiday with Padstow’s restaurants and harbour within easy reach. The Camel Trail cycle path starts in Padstow and runs 18 miles along the estuary to Bodmin.
