St Kew Highway
A39 village north of Wadebridge on the Atlantic Highway
St Kew Highway is a village on the A39 Atlantic Highway, about 3 miles north of Wadebridge in north Cornwall. It is distinct from the nearby hamlet of St Kew, which sits in a wooded valley about a mile west. The village grew along the main road and has a pub and some local facilities. The position on the A39 makes it a practical base: Wadebridge is a short drive south, Camelford is about 7 miles north, and the north coast at Port Isaac is about 6 miles west.
Port Isaac, with its harbour and fishing boats, is the nearest coastal village. Polzeath and Rock, popular with surfers and families, are about 8 miles west via the B3314 through St Endellion. The Camel Trail - the cycling and walking route that runs from Bodmin to Padstow along a disused railway line - passes through Wadebridge, with the northern end at Padstow about 8 miles west.
The village is better positioned as a hub for north Cornwall exploration than as a destination in itself. Holiday cottages in the St Kew Highway area include farm conversions and roadside properties, with the main advantage being their central position for reaching several north Cornwall beaches and villages without a long drive.
