Summercourt
Mid-Cornwall village on the A30 between Truro and Newquay
Summercourt is a village on the A30 in mid-Cornwall, about 7 miles east of Newquay and 10 miles north of Truro. It sits at a road junction that has long made it a stopping point: the Summercourt Fair, held each September, was one of the oldest livestock and trading fairs in Cornwall for several centuries, though it no longer operates in its original form. The village has a pub, a garage, and basic facilities; the nearest supermarkets are in Newquay or Mitchell (which has the Travelodge services on the A30).
The surrounding area is mid-Cornwall farmland - rolling pasture rather than dramatic coast - but the village’s position on the A30 makes it one of the most accessible inland locations in Cornwall. Newquay Airport is about 6 miles west, and the north coast beaches at Perranporth and Newquay are under 20 minutes by car. Truro with its cathedral and shopping is about 10 miles south.
Holiday accommodation near Summercourt is mostly in farmhouses and converted barns on the agricultural land either side of the A30. The village is better placed as a practical base than a destination in its own right, offering reasonable proximity to both north and south coast attractions.
