Tregony
Former medieval port on the River Fal
Tregony (also spelled Tregoney) is a small town on the upper River Fal, about 7 miles south-east of Truro. In the medieval period Tregony was a busy port and parliamentary borough, but the river gradually silted up, leaving the town stranded inland. The wide main street and the market cross in the village centre are reminders of its former importance.
Today Tregony is a quiet village serving as a a starting point for the Roseland Peninsula to the south. St Mawes, Portscatho, and the beaches at Pendower and Carne are all accessible via the road south. Truro is about 7 miles north-west. The village has a primary school, a clock tower, and a handful of shops.
