Nelsons Cottage

Nelsons Cottage is a double-fronted Victorian house on a quiet street in East Looe, named after the grey seal that lived in the estuary for years and now has a bronze statue at the harbour entrance. The cottage sits about 100 metres from East Looe Beach - close enough to hear the sea from the front bedrooms, which have bay windows looking across to Banjo Pier.

Three bedrooms spread across two floors sleep 6 guests, supported by 2 bathrooms and gas central heating. The open-plan kitchen and dining area at the rear has a dishwasher and washing machine, while the front reception rooms catch the light and the sea views. The cottage was recently refurbished but retains its original Victorian proportions.

A dedicated parking space 10 yards from the front door is a genuine advantage in Looe, where town-centre parking fills up fast in summer. Dogs are welcome.

East Looe Beach, the harbour and the town's independent shops and fish restaurants are all within a few minutes' walk. Hannafore Beach - known for some of Cornwall's richest rock pools - is 800m south along the coast path, and the quieter Plaidy Beach is 1.2km east. The coast path west to Polperro covers 5 miles through woodland and above quiet coves.
