Tucked into the hillside and overlooking the River Looe in South East Cornwall is this three-storey holiday home, a good choice for those wanting tranquillity close to the sea. Looe town centre is 350 metres away and is a working fishing port; try crabbing from the quayside or book a boat trip to Looe Island to spot grey seals, nesting birds and butterflies. Looe's sandy beach is 0.5 miles away, where walkers can pick up the South West Coast Path. Return to the harbour for freshly caught fish at one of the seafood restaurants.

The interiors have soft furnishings, carpeted floors and ambient lighting. On the ground floor, a spacious bedroom has a king-size bed, an en-suite shower room and a large window with river views. Stairs lead up to the open-plan lounge and dining room, with a sofa, an electric fire and a glass-topped dining table seating six; a separate kitchen has plenty of space for preparing meals. The remaining double and twin bedrooms are on the second floor, with bold carpet, floral cushions and pinewood furniture; the twin room also has river views, and a bathroom serves this floor.

Outside, enjoy the peaceful surroundings in the rear garden. Start the morning listening to birdsong while gazing at the water or sit out the front and watch the comings and goings of boats in Looe Harbour.

Best for a couple or small family who value a ground-floor bedroom option, since one of the three bedrooms and its en-suite sit on the ground floor. Less good for anyone needing step-free access throughout, given the bedrooms are split across the ground and second floors of this three-storey cottage.
