Apple Cottage

Apple Cottage is a single-storey barn conversion in the countryside inland from Looe. The three-bedroom layout sleeps two, which means generous space for a couple rather than a squeeze - one bedroom doubles as a study or dressing room. Dogs are welcome.

Inside, the open-plan living area has exposed wooden ceiling beams and looks out over the surrounding fields. The kitchen includes a washing machine. The whole layout is ground-floor and accessible. Wifi covers the property throughout.

The garden is large, level, and private, with parking directly outside the door and space for outdoor eating. The setting is quiet farmland - far enough from the road that you hear birds rather than traffic.

The harbour at Looe sits four miles south, with East Looe Beach tucked behind the Banjo Pier and a row of fish restaurants on the quay. The South West Coast Path runs west from Looe through woodland to Talland Bay and on to Polperro (3 miles further). Looe Golf Club is two miles from the door, and Looe's mainline-connected branch line runs from Liskeard.

Best for: couples wanting a flat, accessible base with a real garden and a dog. Less good for anyone needing to walk into town from the door - the four-mile distance means a car or the bus from Pelynt.
