The historic fishing village of Portloe is an ideal base for those wanting to walk the coastal path or for those just wanting to sit back and relax. The village can boast a traditional pub as well as the Lugger Hotel located down on the slipway, which welcomes non-residents to dine (subject to availability - booking advisable).

The village of Veryan, famous for its round houses, is just a couple of miles away and here you will find the cutest village store and post office, conveniently open seven days a week to pick up your daily holiday essentials.

St Mawes, with its glorious castle, is a twenty-minute drive from Portloe.   A passenger ferry from St Mawes to Falmouth operates throughout the year, and Falmouth is well worth a visit,t with this popular maritime town being home to the world-renowned National Maritime Museum.

More beaches around the Roseland Peninsula and Carne remain relatively uncrowded during the summer months, with a few of them dog-friendly, too. These beaches include Portscatho (mainly rocky) and Porthcurnick beach (the latter being dog friendly), which are both 6 miles away.
