Apart from serving real ales, hand-picked wines and great food, this terrific pub has a beer garden open in the summer months and roaring fires in the pub during the autumn and winter months. Be sure to check their website for opening times throughout the year. In nearby Portscatho you will find a small selection of independently owned shops including a very useful convenience store for your daily needs. In addition, there is a popular pub, a couple of good restaurants and a sprinkling of lovely cafes serving coffee, cake and light lunches during the day (please be aware, some shops and cafes are seasonal). The small beach with rock pools at Portscatho is dog friendly until the seasonal ban kicks in from July 1st to the end of August. The nearby, all year round, dog friendly beach at Porthcurnick is a sandy cove very popular with families and is also home to the wonderful Hidden Hut beach cafe. Being located within the Roseland Peninsula means that some wonderful places to visit are right on your doorstep and often just a very short car ride or walk away. St Mawes for example is just 4 miles away and has its awesome castle there to explore as well as harbour, array of shops, cafes and posh restaurants. From the harbour in St Mawes you can catch all sorts of boat trips including fishing trips, ferry trips to Falmouth and scenic river cruises. The well known, much written about St Just-in Roseland church is just 3 miles away and well worth a visit during your stay.
