Crotchet Cottage

Crotchet Cottage is a two-bedroom accessible cottage in the hamlet of Bohortha on the Roseland, sleeping four. It sits at the end of a row of thatched and slate-roofed dwellings next to a working farm, with a large garden and the south-coast path within walking distance.

The cottage has one double bedroom, one twin, and a single family shower room - one bathroom serving four people, so plan your mornings. The living room has an open fire, and the kitchen comes with a dishwasher and washing machine. Wi-Fi is provided. The cottage is set up as accessible accommodation, and up to two dogs of any size are welcomed.

Bohortha sits a mile inland from the south-east tip of the Roseland. Porthbeor Beach is the nearest, a short walk along the cliff - though landslides have made that path unstable, so check before setting out. Towan Beach (National Trust, dog-friendly year-round) has a sloping path from the car park and is reachable by car or coast path. The walk south from Bohortha leads to St Anthony Head lighthouse and views back across the Carrick Roads to Falmouth. Portscatho village - with the Plume of Feathers, a few cafes, and a small shop - is 3 miles up the coast. The Hidden Hut beach kitchen on Porthcurnick is a further mile north (book the fish-night suppers ahead). St Mawes and its year-round Falmouth passenger ferry are 7 miles west.

Best for: a couple or small family with a dog who want a quiet hamlet base with coast-path access and ground-floor accessibility. Less good for: groups of four sharing one bathroom, or visitors who want shops and restaurants within walking distance.
