Penvar

Exposed wooden roof beams run through Penvar, a cottage in the village of Gerrans, 0.3 miles from Portscatho. It sleeps two, in a single double bedroom. The pub is 0.1 miles away, the shop 0.3 miles and the beach 0.4 miles.

The kitchen and dining area is one room, equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, kettle and toaster. The sitting room is centred on a wood-burning stove, and the beams show here too. The bathroom has a bath with a hand-held shower, and there is also a downstairs wet room with a shower and toilet. Central heating is fitted, and WiFi, electricity, heating fuel, bed linen and towels are included.

An enclosed garden at the back gives the cottage private outdoor space, and the village of Gerrans is a short stroll along the shore from Portscatho. Dogs are welcome; check with the owners how many can stay before you book. The cottage is non-smoking. The coast path and the beaches around Gerrans and Portscatho are the natural way to spend the days, and Portscatho has a sandy beach, a harbour, a pub, a butcher's, a greengrocer's and a handful of galleries and gift shops. St Mawes is 5 miles from Portscatho, Mevagissey 13 miles and Truro 15 miles.

It suits a couple, and is less good for anyone who needs a second bedroom.
