Smugglers Cottage

cottage in porthleven

Sleeps 2
1 bedroom
2 bathrooms

Outside, enjoy some fresh air on the balcony with its marvellous sea views and outdoor furniture with some storage space.

This is a romantic, cosy little bolthole for two, full of character and charm and just a short walk from Porthleven’s pubs and restaurants, most of which are clustered around the impressive harbour built by French prisoners of the Napoleonic war. Seafaring history abounds in this town; as the cottage’s name implies, this part of the Cornish coast was once the haunt of smugglers and the white-painted houses around the harbour are mostly old fishermen’s cottages and net lofts. Lined with small, sheltered coves, Porthleven’s beach has strong waves and attracts top-level surfers. Further inland, the busy market town of Helston (2 miles) makes a great day out and you can walk the South West Coast Path to Penzance, just over 10 miles away, or visit the magical island and castle of St Michael’s Mount (7.5 miles).

This captivating cottage is colourful and very welcoming, with amazing sea views and sloping ceilings. The lounge has a wood burner for cosy evenings in and there is the bonus of a shower room on this ground floor level. The kitchen/diner is a bright and cheerful space, with a table for two and a short but relatively steep staircase out to the balcony. On the first floor, you’ll find a charming double bedroom with an en-suite shower with WC and a window out to the balcony from which you have the most beautiful of views.

Outside, enjoy some fresh air on the balcony with its marvellous sea views and outdoor furniture with some storage space. You are also just moments from the beach if you fancy an evening stroll.
