Two Waters Foot
East Cornwall hamlet at the meeting of the Looe Rivers
Two Waters Foot is a small hamlet in east Cornwall where the East and West Looe Rivers converge, about 5 miles north of Looe. The name describes its position at the confluence. The wooded Looe Valley here is managed partly as a nature reserve; the valley is known for its ancient woodland and the herds of fallow deer that are often seen in the valley bottom, particularly at dawn and dusk.
The Looe Valley Line, a branch railway that runs from Liskeard to Looe, passes through the valley close to the hamlet. The river valley is largely inaccessible by road from this point southward, with the railway and river occupying the narrow valley floor. Looe, the fishing and resort town at the river mouth, is about 5 miles south; Liskeard, with a wider range of shops and services, is about 5 miles north and has the main-line station connecting to Plymouth and Penzance.
Walking in the valley follows the river banks and woodland paths. The south-east Cornish coast at Looe is accessible within 20 minutes by car. Holiday accommodation near Two Waters Foot is in rural cottages and farm buildings in and around the valley, attracting visitors who want quiet countryside and wildlife over beach access.
