St Ives Harbour Beach is the nearest at 0.2 km, with Porthgwidden at 0.3 km and Porthmeor at 0.3 km. The town has four beaches in total, plus the Tate St Ives gallery overlooking Porthmeor and the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden a short walk inland. St Ives was historically a pilchard port, and the fishing quarter’s cobbled streets now house independent galleries, restaurants, and cafes. Gwithian and Carbis Bay beaches are both accessible along the coast for surf and calmer swimming respectively.
