A short drive leads from the narrow coastal road that serves the village, around to a parking space for one small car at the rear of the house; a rare bonus in St Mawes. There is a good collection of pubs and restaurants, plus local shops all within a few minutes walk, as well as a selection of small south-facing beaches with a sailing club.

A regular passenger ferry service operates to Falmouth, and another which crosses the Percuil River to St Anthony runs in the summer months.  The 15th Century St Mawes Castle, standing in a sub-tropical garden, is close at hand, and there are also lovely waterside paths following the banks of the estuary which eventually reach the picturesque church at St Just in Roseland.
