St Mawes has a Henry VIII castle at the water's edge, a handful of restaurants, and a passenger ferry to Falmouth running in season. The Roseland Heritage Coast lies immediately east, with the St Anthony Head lighthouse 4km down the peninsula and Place Barrow viewpoint above the Percuil River. The terrain here is tidal estuary and hidden coves rather than open surf beaches.

This is right for adults-only couples or groups of 4 who want to be genuinely in the village - near restaurants and the ferry - rather than a 10-minute drive away. Two bathrooms at this scale is a practical feature. The Roseland is one of the quieter parts of Cornwall, suited to walking, sailing, and slow-paced summer weeks.

Not great for anyone travelling with children or pets, or who wants surf - the nearest breaks are at Perranporth or beyond.
