St Issey
Quiet village near Padstow and the Camel Estuary
St Issey is a small village about 2 miles south of Padstow, set in rolling farmland above the Camel Estuary. The village has a medieval church dedicated to St Issey (or St Ida), a pub (the Ring O’Bells), and a handful of houses clustered around a quiet crossroads. The Little Petherick creek, a tidal inlet of the Camel, lies about half a mile to the west.
The village sits between Padstow and Wadebridge (3 miles southeast), making it a convenient rural base for both the coast and the Camel Trail. Holiday properties here tend to be converted farm buildings and barns with more space and lower prices than Padstow itself. The countryside around St Issey is gently rolling with network of quiet lanes suitable for cycling.
Padstow’s harbour, restaurants, and the start of the Camel Trail are a short drive or cycle ride north. The coast at Trevone and Harlyn Bay is about 4 miles northwest. Wadebridge provides everyday shopping and a connection to the Camel Trail, which runs 18 miles from Padstow to Bodmin along the old railway line. The area is particularly popular with families and cyclists looking for a peaceful base close to north Cornwall’s main attractions.
