The Rashleigh Arms

The Rashleigh Arms is an 18-room B&B on Charlestown Road, 300 metres from Charlestown's Georgian dry dock harbour. The harbour has been used as a filming location for Poldark, among other period productions, and the surrounding quay buildings are largely intact from the late 18th century. The on-site restaurant serves award-winning local seafood and Cornish produce, with a patio overlooking the quay. The bar features live music nights and local ales. Open fire, garden, free parking.

This property is good for couples, solo travellers, and families who want easy access to the south Cornwall coast without the price of a self-catering cottage. The Charlestown location is compact - the harbour, Charlestown Beach, and the Shipwreck and Heritage Museum are all within 5 minutes' walk. Dogs are welcome, making it a practical base for coastal walking.

Less good for guests who want in-room kitchen facilities or a longer stay with self-catering independence - this is a B&B with restaurant service only. Carlyon Bay (900 metres) and Porthpean Beach (0.7 miles) are the nearest larger swimming beaches.

The Eden Project is around 4 miles inland - most guests combine it with a half-day in Charlestown or the Lost Gardens of Heligan (6 miles). St Austell town centre is under 2 miles. The South West Coast Path passes through the harbour area, giving access to Par Sands to the east and Mevagissey to the west.
