Rowan Retreat is one of a delightful pair of charming, semi-detached “brother and sister” cottages, nestled within the grounds of the owners’ home. Set in the pretty village of Lanreath near Looe, this immaculately presented property sleeps two and offers wonderfully comfortable accommodation an inviting base for a relaxing escape. Within the village itself, you’ll receive a warm welcome from friendly locals who encourage visitors to enjoy their excellent amenities, including the community-run local store and the Tipsy Cow Pub, where quiz nights and entertainment evenings bring people together. Adding to the village’s appeal, the long-awaited reopening of The Punchbowl Inn has taken place this fabulous historic pub (Est. 1620) has been lovingly refurbished and now serves delicious food and drink. The glorious beaches of Lansallos, Talland Bay and Lantic Bay are all less than six miles away, placing beautiful coastal scenery within easy reach. Rowan Retreat and Rowan Cottage (891) share the same arrival day, making them an ideal option if two couples wish to holiday together while still enjoying the privacy of their own space. Each property benefits from its own parking space, along with outdoor space and garden furniture, perfect for unwinding in the fresh air. Entrance - One step leads up to the front door, once inside on the ground floor you will find an entrance lobby with coat hooks and room for boots. Shower Room - Off the lobby is the smart shower room WC with large cubicle and electric shower over, wash basin and heated towel rail. Bedroom - Next to the shower room is the good size bedroom with king size bed. The bedroom is carpeted, has ample drawer and hanging space with hairdryer provided. Kitchen / Living Space - A reasonably steep, carpeted staircase with handrail leads up to the open plan living and kitchen space with dual aspect windows and attractive beamed ceiling. Beautiful exposed, original stonework has been subtly re-introduced to the decoration throughout. Comfy easy seating with television, dining table and chairs plus well equipped kitchen completes the accommodation layout. Kitchen appliances include electric cooker, fridge with freezer compartment and microwave. General - The property is heated by night storage heating. Shared laundry room adjoining Rowan Cottage with coin operated washing machine and tumble dryer which can be used by both properties. A rotary dryer is also provided between the two properties. Outside - Rowan Retreat has its own pretty, small paved area to the front with table and chairs. In addition, guests staying in both properties are invited to use the top garden with lovely views and seating. Please note that guests staying at Rowan Retreat will need to access this garden via the garden in front of Rowan Cottage. The bustling town of Looe is divided by the ever-changing river that separates quieter West Looe from the absorbing waterfront of East Looe, with its diversity of shops, restaurants and pubs, Banjo pier and sandy beach. The pace and routine of life in Looe follows the ebb and flow of the tide and the movement of boats returning with their catch of fresh fish. Local boatman can ferry visitors to and from either quay, or alternatively, you can enjoy a pleasant cruise along the beautiful and rugged coastline, keeping an eye out for the schools of dolphins that can often be spotted in the bay. A guided tour will draw you deeper into the labyrinth of ancient buildings, clustered together in the narrow streets and courtyards that make up the old town of East Looe. Visit the 16th century Old Guildhall museum with its interesting exhibits detailing the town’s diverse history, or relax and just while away the hours on the wonderful sandy beach, separated from the river mouth by the Banjo Pier. The South East Cornish coastline is dotted with lovely beaches, hidden coves, and pretty seaside villages to explore. You can also join the magnificent South West Coast Path to enjoy bracing cliff top walks with spectacular views. For a different kind of day out, the Wild Futures Monkey Sanctuary is just outside Looe, providing vital refuge for primates in need, and a fascinating family activity whilst supporting a great cause. A holiday in Looe offers a convenient base for enjoying the diverse range of things to do in the seaside town and the surrounding South East Cornish coastline.
