The Old Coastguard

The Old Coastguard sits at the southern edge of Mousehole, looking out across Mount's Bay from a position above the village's harbour wall. The hotel has 14 rooms, most with sea views, and a subtropical garden that drops down toward the coast path.

The restaurant serves a daily menu focused on fish from Newlyn (a mile up the road) and produce from local farms. Tables by the window look directly out to sea. A bar area serves Cornish ales and a concise wine list. The same team runs The Gurnard's Head near Zennor.

The garden is the hotel's quiet advantage - sheltered by the building from north winds, it grows palms, echiums, and agapanthus year-round. A terrace with outdoor seating catches the afternoon sun. The South West Coast Path runs directly below, heading west to Lamorna Cove (about 3 miles) or east around the harbour to Newlyn.

Mousehole itself is a tight cluster of granite cottages around a small harbour. The village has a handful of pubs, a deli, and the Rock Pool cafe. Parking is at the hotel or in the village car park above. The harbour lights display at Christmas draws visitors from across Cornwall.
