Trewithen Meadowsweet

Trewithen Meadowsweet is a step-free, Scandinavian-style lodge in Tintagel, sleeping 2 across 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Its ground-floor open-plan layout makes it one of the few genuinely accessible self-catering options on the north Cornwall coast - no stairs, no awkward thresholds, and private parking right at the door.

The lodge is compact but well-equipped: a flame-effect electric fire anchors the living area, and the kitchen runs to an espresso machine, dishwasher, and washing machine. The two bathrooms give each bedroom private facilities, useful for couples who want their own space. Note that there is no WiFi and no outdoor sitting area.

Bossiney Cove is 0.8 miles away - a short drive down a lane to a National Trust car park, then steps to the sand and the cave at the foot of the cliffs. Tregardock Beach, a remoter stretch of shoreline backed by slate cliffs, is 2.9 miles north. Tintagel village is on the doorstep: Tintagel Castle (English Heritage, adults £14.80) sits on a headland reached by a steel footbridge opened in 2019, and Merlin's Cave below is free to enter at low tide. St Nectan's Glen waterfall is 1 mile from the village centre.

Good for: couples needing ground-floor, step-free living in striking walking country. Less good for: those expecting WiFi, a garden, or a hot tub - none of those are available here.
