Lucerne

Lucerne is a three-bedroom cottage for six in the scattered rural parish of St Ervan, a few miles inland from Padstow on the north Cornwall coast. A bunk room sits on the ground floor, well suited to children or guests who would rather not manage stairs, while the king-size bedroom and a zip-link twin, configurable as a super-king, are upstairs. Two bathrooms serve the group.

A wood burner anchors the open-plan lounge and kitchen. Outside, a large enclosed lawn gives children space to play, with a barbecue and views towards Trevose Head. WiFi, parking and a dishwasher are included, though there is no washing machine, so longer stays need a laundrette trip. Dogs are not accepted.

Porthcothan Bay Beach is 1.1 miles from the cottage, Bedruthan Steps Beach follows at 1.5 miles, and Treyarnon Bay is 2.0 miles. Padstow, with its harbour and Rick Stein restaurants, is about 4 miles north-west, St Merryn is a short drive for everyday shops, and Newquay is about 13 miles down the coast for a wider choice of restaurants and nightlife.
