The Phoenix

The Phoenix is a house-and-annex property 200m from Widemouth Bay, one of the more accessible surf beaches on the North Cornwall coast. The combined layout runs 8 bathrooms across the two spaces, which makes it practical for larger family groups travelling together but wanting some separation - separate kitchens and living areas allow different schedules without friction. Weekly rates start from £1,131.

The main house has contemporary interiors with underfloor heating and a wood-burning stove. Both the dishwasher and washing machine are in the kitchen. The annex has its own entrance and independent living area. No Wi-Fi is provided across either space. Parking is on-site and the garden has a BBQ and outdoor seating.

Widemouth Bay is lifeguarded through the summer season - usually late May to mid-September - and draws both surfers and families. The beach flattens out at low tide and gives several hundred metres of sand. Millook Beach, a shingle cove sitting below dramatically folded Carboniferous cliff strata, is 2.8km south along the coast road. Bude town centre with supermarkets, independent cafes, and the salt-water Bude Sea Pool is around 3 miles north.

Best for larger families or two connected family groups who want direct beach access and private outdoor space on the Atlantic coast. Less good for groups that require Wi-Fi or prefer a town-centre base.
