Daymer Bay is 1.8km away - a sheltered sandy beach backed by dunes, with calm water for paddling and early-season swimming. Polzeath, with its reliable north-facing surf break, sits 3.4km north. The Rock water taxi runs every 20 minutes in season, crossing to Padstow and its harbour restaurants without the drive around. The Camel Trail cycle path picks up at Wadebridge, 4 miles south.

Best for families with dogs wanting easy beach access and the Padstow water taxi on the doorstep. Less suited to guests wanting rural seclusion - Rock is popular and busy through the school holiday weeks.
