Bryher Cottage

Bryher Cottage is a three-bedroom cottage in St Mawgan, a well-preserved village in the sheltered Vale of Mawgan, with a stated capacity of five. The bedrooms hold a king, a double and a twin, so the five-guest limit shouldn't be read from the bed count alone.

Open-plan living gathers the group around a wood burner, and two sets of patio doors lead out to an enclosed, lawned garden with a deck and a BBQ. A water barrel by the door is provided for rinsing wetsuits after the beach. One bathroom serves the cottage. WiFi, parking, a dishwasher and a washing machine are included, but dogs are not accepted.

The village pub, the Falcon Inn, is a short walk away, and the 13th-century church of St Mawgan and Lanherne's convent gardens sit at the centre of the village. Mawgan Porth, a sandy family beach less crowded than Newquay's, is 1.8 miles away. Watergate Bay is 2.3 miles away and Bedruthan Steps Beach, the National Trust-managed stack beach, is 2.7 miles away.

Five reviews give the cottage a 4.8 out of 5 rating. The enclosed garden and wetsuit-rinsing barrel suit beach days well, though the whole group shares one bathroom.

**Best for:** A family of up to five wanting an enclosed garden, a wood burner and a quiet valley village close to Mawgan Porth.

**Less good for:** Guests travelling with a dog, six-person groups, or anyone needing multiple bathrooms or step-free access.
