Chyrosen

Chyrosen is a 6-bedroom, 2-bathroom cottage at Crofthandy near St Day, sleeping 10. The bedroom configuration suits a large family or two households: five rooms on the upper floor - including two convertible twin-or-super-king rooms and two king rooms - and a sixth king room on the ground floor. An open fire in the sitting room is the main communal feature, with an enclosed garden, ample parking, wifi, dishwasher, and washing machine completing a functional spec. No hot tub or pool.

St Day and the surrounding Crofthandy hamlet sit within the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape UNESCO World Heritage Site. Engine houses dot the skyline in most directions - Carn Brea, with its castle and monument, is visible from the higher ground nearby. Redruth, the nearest town of any size, is roughly 5km west and has a supermarket and rail connection on the main Penzance to London line. Truro is 12km south-east.

For beaches, Portreath is the nearest at 8.7km - a north-facing cove with a stream running across the sand, reliable surf in westerly swells, and a pub and cafe on the beach road. Trevaunance Cove at St Agnes is 9.2km, a shingle-backed surf beach with the Driftwood Spars pub at the top of the slipway. Trevellas Cove is 9.5km and quieter, accessed down a steep lane with limited parking.

This cottage works for larger family groups who want a mid-Cornwall base within reach of both north-coast beaches and the World Heritage mining landscape. Suits multi-generational groups where the open fire is a plus and pool access is not a priority. Less good for couples or small groups - the scale works better at full occupancy. Saturday changeover.
