Kitts Cottage occupies a 400-year-old building in Stratton, near Bude. A double and twin bedroom sleep four upstairs, with one bathroom serving the group. The ground-floor living area has low beamed ceilings, a character detail that taller guests should consider.

Stratton adjoins Bude on its north-east side, about half a mile from the town centre, and is the older of the two. The parish church of St Andrew has Norman origins and a 13th-century tower, and the 16th-century Tree Inn on the main street served as Royalist headquarters at the Battle of Stamford Hill in 1643. There is a post office, a pharmacy and several shops. The Bude Canal path runs south from the town and gives flat walking toward Marhamchurch.
