Semi-detached one-bed cottage inside Cardinham Woods, 4 miles east of Bodmin. Sleeps 2 in a king-size bed. Sits on the same Forestry England complex as Cobble and Tawnawood, but with its own garden, end-wall position, and a quieter feel than the mid-terrace units.

The single bedroom and bathroom sit upstairs; the open-plan living-kitchen with wood burner is downstairs. Cornish welcome hamper, toiletries and a wood-burner starter pack on arrival. Wifi, washing machine and EV charging on site. Two dogs welcome.

The garden is the differentiator on this complex - a private outdoor space with the wood-fired hot tub, screened from neighbouring cottages. Guests also have exclusive use of the on-site woodland spa, which adds a sauna and a second, larger hot tub.

The trail network leaves from the car park 5 minutes away. The four waymarked walks (Lady Vale, Rover, Wheal Glynn, Hurricane) range from a 1-mile streamside loop to a 4-mile climb past an old lead mine. Mountain-bike trails are graded blue and red, with bike hire on site at the Cardinham Woods Cafe. Lanhydrock House sits 2 miles south for Victorian gardens and parkland; the Eden Project is 9 miles; Brown Willy and Rough Tor 6 miles north.

Best for a couple who want a forest base with a private garden, hot tub and dogs along. Less good for anyone after sea views or a beach walk - the south coast is around 25 minutes by car.
