Round Island

Round Island is a four-bedroom former lighthouse keeper's cottage at Lizard Lighthouse, on the southernmost point of mainland Britain. One of six adjacent cottages managed here by Trinity House, it sleeps eight and sits directly on the cliff above the sea. Sea views are visible from the property, with the coast path accessible on foot from the door.

The cottage has wi-fi, parking, a dishwasher, BBQ and garden. Dogs are welcome. Three bathrooms serve the four bedrooms. The setting is exposed - this is open Atlantic-facing coastline, not a sheltered village - and the location suits guests who want dramatic coast with walks rather than immediate access to shops or restaurants.

Kynance Cove is 2.7km along the coast path - one of Cornwall's most visited coves, with turquoise water over serpentine rock. Cadgwith, a working fishing village, is 3.5km in the other direction. Mullion Cove is 7.3km north, with a National Trust harbour and seasonal cafe. The Lizard village itself has pubs, a pasty shop, and the Housel Bay Hotel a short drive away.

Best for groups of eight who want a working lighthouse setting, sea views, and access to the south coast path. Less good for families needing a quiet, sheltered beach within walking distance - the clifftop terrain here is dramatic rather than gentle.
