Plaidy Beach and East Looe Beach are around 14km south - the south coast here is rocky and wooded, quite different from the Atlantic surf beaches of the north coast.

This works well for a multi-generational family or group wanting a large, settled base for walking Bodmin Moor and exploring south-east Cornwall. The moor itself is immediately accessible on foot from the village. Not great for guests who prioritise beach proximity - the coast is a 15-20 minute drive - but the moor landscape and rail access are genuine compensating strengths.
