The Nest

The Nest is a 2-bedroom cottage in Gweek, sleeping 4 across 2 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms. It sits in a quiet position within The Rookery, a small cluster of properties at the head of the Helford River, with a garden, off-road parking, and Saturday changeovers. The National Seal Sanctuary - Cornwall's rescue and rehabilitation centre for grey seals - is a short walk from the door.

The layout is practical rather than elaborate, suiting a base-and-explore holiday over Gweek's tidal creeks and surrounding countryside.

Gweek village sits at the tidal limit of the Helford River, with a boatyard, pub, and access to the wooded creek walks that run through ancient oak woodland toward Frenchman's Creek. Poldhu Cove beach - a lifeguarded sandy bay on the Lizard coast - is about 5 miles south. Gunwalloe Church Cove is a similar distance and far less crowded. Helston, with a full range of shops, is 3 miles west.

**Best for:** Families or two couples wanting a quiet, well-located base in the Helford area - especially those visiting the National Seal Sanctuary with children. Good access to the Lizard coast and Helford walks without paying Helston town-centre prices.

**Less good for:** Those wanting sea views, a hot tub, or to walk to a surf beach - this is a riverside village rather than a coastal resort.
