The Scarlet

The Scarlet is an adults-only hotel on the clifftop above Mawgan Porth, with far-reaching views over the Atlantic. Rooms are built with tall glass walls and sliding doors onto private outdoor space, in a simple, uncluttered style.

Scarlet Spa runs an indoor pool alongside an outdoor natural reed pool, a clifftop cedar sauna and a steam room. Treatments take place in lantern-lit tented rooms, with cocoon pods for afterwards in the relaxation room. The restaurant serves seasonal, responsibly sourced food with a slow-aged wine list, open for breakfast through dinner daily, and tasting menus are available. Hot tubs, EV charging and accessible parking are all on site.

Mawgan Porth beach is 300 metres from the hotel. Merlin Golf Club and Driving Range is a five-minute drive, Newquay is 15 minutes by car, and Padstow a 20-minute drive. Bedruthan Steps beach is 1.2 miles away and Watergate Bay 2 miles, and parking is included for guests arriving by car. Newquay Cornwall Airport is seven minutes away. The hotel carries a four-star rating, with check-in from 16:00 and check-out by 11:00.

Best for couples wanting a spa-focused clifftop stay without children around. Less good for families or groups - the adults-only policy rules out anyone travelling with kids.
