East Taphouse
East Taphouse is a village in the civil parish of St Pinnock, positioned on the A390 about one mile west of Doublebois in Central Cornwall. The hamlets of Middle Taphouse and West Taphouse lie a short distance further along the road.
The village sits between two historic market towns - Liskeard to the east and Lostwithiel to the west. Both are within about 15 minutes by car. A community hall hosts local events and activities. The surrounding countryside is a patchwork of farmland and woodland, typical of mid-Cornwall’s gentle rolling landscape.
Bodmin Moor rises to the north, reachable in about 10 minutes, offering open moorland walks and granite tors. To the south, the fishing villages of Looe, Polperro and Fowey are all within a reasonable drive. East Taphouse works well as a central base for exploring both coasts - the south coast harbours and the north coast surfing beaches are roughly equidistant.
The Liskeard to St Austell road gives straightforward access to the A38, connecting to Plymouth in one direction and Bodmin in the other. Aherlow Forest, part of the wider Deerpark woodland, lies within walking distance and has tracks suitable for mountain biking. The Dobwalls Adventure Park, about 3 miles east near Liskeard, provides a family day out with zip wires and miniature railway rides.
