Longrock
Longrock is a village on the shore of Mount’s Bay in west Cornwall, sitting on the 3-mile stretch of beach that connects Penzance to Marazion. The village lies within the civil parish of Ludgvan, roughly 1 mile east of Penzance and 1 mile west of Marazion, with direct views across the bay to St Michael’s Mount.
The beach at Longrock is a broad expanse of sand and shingle, popular with locals and walkers. The water stays shallow for a considerable distance, making it a safer spot for swimming than some of Cornwall’s more exposed beaches. The South West Coast Path runs along the shoreline here, connecting Penzance promenade to Marazion and onward toward the Lizard.
Longrock has practical advantages as a base. Penzance, with its harbour, shops, restaurants, and mainline railway station, is within walking distance to the west. Marazion - the departure point for the causeway crossing to St Michael’s Mount - is equally close to the east. The Penzance Heliport, offering scheduled flights to the Isles of Scilly, sits between Longrock and Penzance. The A30 bypass runs north of the village, giving straightforward road access to the rest of Cornwall. Despite its proximity to two towns, Longrock retains a village feel with its own local amenities, and the uninterrupted bay views from the seafront are among the best in west Cornwall.
