The Lost Gardens of Heligan has not announced the next Global Pasty Championships date. The organiser’s current page still describes the first event, held on 28 February 2026, and the official 2026 rules confirm that date. Check Heligan’s event page for a new edition once one is announced.
The 2026 competition accepted entries from companies, individual bakers and juniors. Separate categories covered Cornish pasties made to UK geographical indication rules and alternative savoury pasties. Junior entrants were aged five to 15 and could work with an adult helper. Heligan also ran a speed-crimping challenge, demonstrations, food and drink, Cornish music and an afternoon awards ceremony.
The organiser connects the event to a 1764 letter in the Heligan archive that records a mutton pasty for the estate’s squire, John Tremayne. This is the specific historical link used by Heligan when explaining why the competition is held at the gardens.
