2 The Glade

A single-storey lodge at Penstowe Holiday Village in Kilkhampton, 2.8 miles from the north Cornish coast. Two bedrooms sleep 5: a double and a bunk room with a double below and a single above. The open-plan living, dining, and kitchen area opens out to a private gravelled seating area, with access to communal grounds beyond. Dogs are welcome and the flat layout makes it accessible for guests with limited mobility.

Sandymouth Beach is a National Trust-managed cove 2.8 miles west, with red sandstone cliffs and rock pools exposed at low tide. Duckpool Beach, a narrow shingle and sand cove at the base of a wooded valley, is 2.9 miles. Both beaches are reached by single-track lanes from Kilkhampton and are dog-friendly year-round.

Bude, 5 miles south, is the nearest town with supermarkets, surf hire shops, and the Bude Sea Pool - a large tidal lido built into the rocks at the base of Summerleaze Beach. The town has been a surf destination since at least the 1960s and the canal that runs inland from the beach is used for paddleboarding and kayaking.

Suits a family of five or two couples wanting a low-cost base for exploring the north Cornwall coast near the Devon border. The park setting and single-storey layout make it practical for families with a dog. Less good for guests wanting a standalone cottage away from a holiday park environment, or those needing a washing machine or dishwasher - neither is provided.
