The 18-mile Camel River Trail, which runs between Padstow and Bodmin through the Camel Valley, passes through Wadebridge 2 miles to the east - flat and accessible cycling for all ages. Bikes can be hired in Wadebridge.

Polzeath Beach is 5.4 miles away - a popular surf beach with consistent Atlantic swells on the north Cornish coast. Daymer Bay, a calmer estuary beach suited to younger children, is 4.8 miles. Less good for two independent couples who need separate bedroom access - the double bedroom is only reachable via the king-size room. Two dogs accepted.
