Apple Loft

Apple Loft is a two-storey barn conversion at Menaburle Farm near Boconnoc, in the wooded countryside between Lostwithiel and the south coast. The ground-floor living area centres on a woodburning stove with free logs provided, giving the space warmth in cooler months.

Two bedrooms sit upstairs: a king-size double and a twin room reached via 4 steps (better suited to children). The ground-floor bathroom has both a bath and a separate shower. The open-plan living area includes a kitchen with electric oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, and washing machine, alongside dining and sitting areas. Wi-Fi, TV, and DVD player are included, with a cot and highchair available on request.

An enclosed garden with lawn, patio, and garden furniture provides a private outdoor space with countryside views. Off-road parking for two cars is included, and one pet stays free of charge. Lansallos Beach - a remote cove reached only by footpath, known for clear water and rock pools - is 5.5 miles south. Lantic Bay, a National Trust beach between Polruan and Fowey with a steep 20-30 minute walk down, sits 6 miles away.

Lostwithiel, Cornwall's former medieval capital, is about 3 miles away with antique shops lining Fore Street and a regular farmers' market. Restormel Castle stands just over a mile from the town, and the National Trust's Lanhydrock estate is roughly 3 miles north. The Eden Project is 5 miles west, and the harbour town of Fowey about 6 miles south.

Best for families with children, since the twin bedroom is reached via four steps better suited to younger guests, and one pet stays free of charge. Less good for a beach-at-the-door stay - the closest beach is a 5.5-mile drive, reached only by footpath.
