The nearest beach is Crackington Haven at 15.9km - a National Trust beach at the base of tall slate cliffs, with rock pools and a seasonal cafe. Widemouth Bay is 17km, a longer sandy beach that's more suited to families.

Launceston town is around 3 miles south by road, with a Norman castle keep that offers views over both Cornwall and Devon. The town has a weekly market and a range of independent shops. The Tamar Valley - an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty - is accessible within 20 minutes south. Dartmoor is a similar distance east across the border.
