Bumblefish

Bumblefish is a two-bedroom cottage in the Rame Peninsula Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, positioned near the village of Downderry on Cornwall's south-eastern coast. The Rame Peninsula is one of the quieter corners of Cornwall - less frequented than the popular north coast resorts and known for its long clifftop views over Plymouth Sound and the English Channel.

Two bedrooms and 2 bathrooms give the property capacity for a small group. There is a private enclosed garden and parking included with the booking. No dishwasher or washing machine, and no WiFi - which to some guests is a feature rather than a gap.

Whitsand Bay is 3.1km - a long, dramatic beach stretching several miles along the south-facing cliff base, accessible via steep paths from the cliff-top car parks. The beach is exposed and popular with more experienced swimmers and surfers. Downderry Beach is 4.5km, a more sheltered option with a pub and cafe at the top of the slope. Kingsand Beach, a small working-village harbour beach on the Rame head, is 8.2km.

The South West Coast Path runs through this section of cliff, with walking routes east toward Looe (around 6 miles) and west toward Kingsand and Cawsand. The Whitsand Bay area offers a degree of separation from the summer crowds.

Suits couples or small groups seeking a quiet south-coast base with access to walking and less-visited beaches. Not suited to families needing full amenities or guests wanting beach access on foot.
